Keeping your Windows Key and program keys safe.

I am surprised none speak of using a Windows Key and system record before playing with the pc or trying to upgrade. What has saved me several times is a free program called Belarc. It provides a report of every item in pc worth mentioning and as well your products along with codes. It will record your Windows key and any other program that has been registered via purchase so you can put it away for safe keeping.

You can get it here: Belarc Advisor - Belarc, Inc..

It will review your system and then post results on a web page. To this you print to PDF, and send it to your storage. I use my saved email program online. Or some other save. Had to use it two months ago when I was resetting my windows with a new windows cd, that did repairs. When it was done the registry key got lost. I simply registered the information off the Belarc and wala.

That is because keyfinder tools are not really needed anymore with digital licences.

They will return bios embedded keys but you cannot lose them, or need to enter again on a clean install.

If you use a standalone retail licence, a key finder can be of use to reinstall windows on new pc, but even then after an upgrade, you may find they only return a useless generic key.

Keyfinders are not much use for finding office keys unless 2010 or earlier as the keys are encrypted.

The best keyfinder tool is showkeyplus (see apps section) written by one of our legendary forum gurus @Superfly

That was a bit quicker than I had expected. Yes, you can wait until you're ready before taking up the offer.

Unsupported does not necessarily mean incompatible.

Minimum W11 requirement for Intel CPUs is an 8th gen processor or newer. Yours is a 6th gen i5 but should still be able to run Win11 well. I have a laptop with a 1st gen i5-520M that I've been using as a test machine. That one has been running Windows 11 since the launch in October 2021.
thankas as laways Bree, i'm not going to push the i5, it runs fine so as i said it'll be down to a cessation of W10 security updates before i think about trying anything. godd to know there might not be much of an issue though.

and in a further twist, i've just got the end of life/your PC doesn't meet requirements popup again, despite everything still showing as it being suitable for upgrade when i look in the Check For Update page :-/
