    Hypervisor not starting

I'm trying to get Win10 32-bit in a Hyper-V VM on a laptop to go with a desktop PC - so that both can run an older version of ACT! that won't run on 64-bit Windows.

I've used Speccy to look at the CPUs of both.

    • Desktop - Core i5 4460; both Virtualization & Hyperthreading "Not supported" but Hyper-V been running for a few years now
    • Laptop with Core i5 252M; both Virtualization & Hyperthreading Supported, Enabled - but stuck on Hypervisor not running

I've gone into Programs & Features on the laptop (Win10 Pro 64-bit) and all the Hyper-V options are enabled [check marks].

Am I missing something, do I need to go back into BIOS and DISable the laptop's Virtualization settings?

I'm no expert but I've ridden this tricycle a few times.

OH, the HV Host Service error msg: Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start.

    Help!!

I've rebooted at least 3 times since the last reboot to get all the Hyper-V settings enabled in Programs and Features, but only now has the VM actually started. Now I need the VM to see the ISO. I think I'm good from here.

If you use the Media Creation Tool on a 64-bit machine then by default it will create a 64-bit Windows 10 ISO. You have to manually either select 32-bit (x86) or Both.

While you are setting up the Windows 10 32-bit virtual machine you select that ISO image file for the DVD Drive.

    Yes, I did those things

The Hypervisor was not running, which was the issue for me. Not quite sure how or why it finally was working, as I may not have clearly stated, I rebooted about 3 times after making the last changes for Hyper-V. Finally, the VM I created actually started.

Thanks for looking in on this and sharing.
