Hi.
Been a fan of Potplayer for years but recently at various times when playing a video the PC freezes and I have to do a hard reboot. I've tried installing (after completely uninstalling) without choosing the additional codecs but it still freezes, sometimes after a few minutes, sometimes after a day or so.
Any ideas would be most welcome.

Much as this is s-o-o-o hard to say (there is no other like Daum Potplayer !!!) but sometimes you have to cut your losses and overcome your inhibitions ... just switch to VLC Player.
Then you can investigate why ...
- if it still happens with VLC, possible hardware issue
- does it happen with all videos
- if not, check the components of a video(s) that cause the freeze
(Note video files .avi .mp4 .mkv .mov etc etc are just a container for an audio stream and a video stream. The same file type can contain different streams). Use MediaInfo (freeware) to reveal audio and video stream types and compare which ones cause freezing
- whatever you do, do not poison Daum, VLC or your system with 3rd (4th) party codec packs
Thanks Idgat. Will investigate. I'm determined to solve it and not switch player.
Keep settings:
Backup this folder:
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\PotPlayerMini64
Then delete that folder and uninstall/ reinstall PotPlayer.
Test a problem video.
If you get the same problem restore the folder.
If it is just a few problem videos try converting one of them to another format then try playing the converted video.
I do remember a few years ago having a similar issue and I had to remove all media players and any extra codecs to solve it.
There is a tool here that offers a few fixes.

I ran Codec Tweak - after seeing another post - and ran that. Potplayer is currently on a loop playing the video that froze the system last night. It's been running perfectly for about 3 hours now - typical.
