As I had mentioned in my original post, the PC has 16GB of RAM.
Yes, I already did all that stuff, sfc, scan, restore, etc., did not help.
Also as mentioned here before, startup is Opera browser, win security and Open Shell.
I just want to find out if a PNY CS900 500GB 2.5" SATA III drive could be installed, maybe by disconnecting the optical drive so I can utilize that connector.

Guys, I found this SSD: PNY CS900 500GB 2.5" SATA III INTERNAL Solid State Drive (SSD) - SSD7CS900-500-RB and I am wondering if it can be installed in that Inspiron 3655. How would it connect?
A same format (2.5") SSD will plug right in, assuming of course your laptop has a SATA port. It most likely will.
Do you happen to know if it is a SATA I; II or III interface?
Not that it matters much in connectivity but more so in transfer and I/O speed.
I had once an old Asus 47XX laptop with a 125GB HDD (SATA I).
Originally it came with Windows Vista. Once I upgraded back then to Windows 7 it became painfully slow near useless.
So I bought a crucial 250 GB SSD, transfer copied all from the HDD onto the SSD and was surprised how fast it performed compared to before.

In terms of durability and performance I recommend Samsung as they seem to decay the slowest.
I have a 10-year-old c Crucial with ~56 TB lifetime writes which is currently at 61% whereas a seven-year Samsung is still at 98%.

You'll have no problem connecting a SATA.
Your BIOS also should not have any issue recognizing the drive/size.
As for the optical drive, what type of interface does it have? Also SATA and also SATA 3?
The reason I'm asking because I've seen a few that appear to be not standard SATA but some proprietary gimmick.

Your computer specs says you have a Compaq HP Elite 8000 SFF E8400 and 4G of memory not 16G.

As you have a old computer that has SATA 300 and all new SSD are SATA 600 it doesn't make much difference the band you choose.
    500G 2.5" SSD

It seems that the MB has 4 SATA /eSATA connectors. You will need to open the case and find out where to install the SSD.
If the ODD (CD/DVD) is laptop type you can replace it with a HDD caddy.

Never mind those old specs, just updated them a bit.
As I said in my starting post, it's a Dell Inspiron 3655, win 10-22H2, 16GB RAM, 500GB HDD.
I'm just asking if this drive can be installed, using the optical drive SATA connector.

If the ODD is a desktop drive, yes the connectors are a normal SATA and PS.
If the ODD is a slim (9.5 or 12.7mm) laptop than you must use a caddy

I'm planning to leave the ODD inside and just disconnect it and use the SATA connector for the SSD. I think there is a bay for a 2.5" drive, may need an adapter or is that the caddy you mentioned?

The MB has two SATA connectors. Ones goes to the HDD and the other to the ODD
I was looking the 3655 and it has a laptop ODD.
The laptop ODD has a specific connector that won't fit on the SSD.
The caddy not only fix the SSD inside it but also makes the cables interface.

You can detach the ODD cable from the MB and connect a a normal SATA cable to connect to the SSD. I don't know if there is a spare power cable.
The Inspiron 3655 specifications mention "One 3.5‑inch hard drive and one 2.5‑inch hard drive" as an storage option (no ODD).

My suggestion: Find out he ODD height (9.5 or 12.7mm) and buy the caddy.

Megahertz, thanks for all your input.
Isn't that: "You can detach the ODD cable from the MB and connect a normal SATA cable to connect to the SSD" the solution?
I'd rather buy a cable instead of a caddy.

And where you put the SSD? Does the PS has a spare power connector?

You have to open the case and do some research to find out the best solution.
