    Transfer speed update possible?

I have an old Desktop computer running Win10. I doubt it has USB 3.0 (in other words, it is slow).

    1) How can I check to find out if USB 3.0 is available on this machine?

    2) Is there a way I can outfit it with USB-C (or at least USB 3.0) so as to bring the transfer speed up. I primarily want this for running regular (Macrium) Disk Images.

    Thanks

    1. Until recently with the advent of combination USB 2/USB 3 ports the USB 2 had black centers in the port and plug, USB 3 had blue centers in the port and plug. Checking in Device Manager and the USB section lists USB 2 as Enhanced and USB 3 as eXtensible.

    2. One way I've used in an older computer was an Add-in PCI card with USB 3 ports. A little newer would be an Add-in PCIe X1, X4 or X16 card, although the PCIe X16 is primarily for a Video card.

If your 'My Computer' details are accurate, the mainboard specs shows it has 6 USB ports on the back panel - 4 x USB 2 and 2 x USB 3 - plus additional onboard USB headers.

    Hope this helps...

Assuming you're hanging around watching and waiting while the image is being created .... why not schedule the task to run during the night?

What (how much) are you imaging? If it includes a large amount of personal data (videos, photos, etc) why not separate the personal data and only create images of the system. Backup the personal data separately using alternate software like SyncBackFree (backs up in native format).

    Thanks for looking it up.

It is large amounts of data (lots of apps!!)
Most personal data was on an outboard drive, but what with OneDrive garbage, I'm still having a hard time cleaning up the mess.

I've never looked into SyncBackFree. Searched... Carbonite Safe online backup. Now 30% off! | Carbonite and didn't find anything free.

Cause that's got nothing to do with Syncbackfree. I suspect you're looking at the entries at the top of your search results which are paid advertisements and rarely have anything to do with the search terms. You need some ad blockers on your browser
